Candied Orange Peels

Gluten free & vegan chocolate-dipped candied orange peels, recipe created by me below.

Ingredients

~ 1 organic orange peel, thinly sliced

~ 1/3 cup + 2 tbsp sugar for coating

~ 2/3 cup water + more for boiling

~ 1/3 cup chocolate (optional)


Directions

  1. Cover orange peel slices with water in a small saucepan & bring to a boil, then drain. Repeat a second time.

  2. Return orange peel slices to saucepan & add 1/3 cup sugar & 2/3 cups water. Stir, then bring to a boil. Reduce heat & allow to simmer for about 30 minutes.

  3. Remove slices from sauce pan with tongs & place on cooling rack to set for about an hour.

  4. Roll slices in remaining 2 tbsp sugar on a small plate or bowl, then return to drying rack to set overnight.

  5. Optional: melt chocolate in the microwave in a bowl & dip slices in chocolate.

  6. Allow chocolate to set & store in an airtight container in the fridge.
